As an international student, you are required to maintain your status. Your status relates to the reason you are coming to the US, which is to study and receive a degree.

Any activities that cause you to lose sight of your primary intention of coming to the United States can cause your status to be in jeopardy. Failure to maintain your status can and may result in your removal from the US.

Maintain Your Status

• You are required to report to campus no sooner than 30 days prior to the start of the term and to report to the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST).
• You are required to be enrolled as a full-time student for all terms. However you can be enrolled part-time for your final term. 
• You are required to be progressing towards your degree completion in a positive manner, meaning passing all of your classes. 
• You are required to attend all of the class sessions. 
• You are required to make sure that the information on your I-20 is updated and accurate (i.e. majors, minors, and program end date). This is not the responsibility of the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST).
• You are required to report any changes to your program of study. Changes to major or addition of majors or minors by reporting the changes and updates to the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST).
• You are required to report your change of address to the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST) if you are moving from resident to commuter or to a new location or dorm.
• You are required to notify the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST) any time you make changes to your schedule that will cause you to be less than full-time.
• You are required to read all emails sent to your student email account. Failure to do so may cause you to miss out on important information from the campus offices.
• You are required to notify the Advocacy Support and Services for International Students Team (ASSIST) of any absences or stepping out (taking a term or two off) or leaving the school upon completion of program or transferring to another school.
• You are required to leave the US upon the end of your 60-day grace unless you are in a pending status from the USCIS. (applied for OPT  awaiting decision)
• You are not eligible to work off campus unless you receive the proper authorization (CPT). If you are caught working off campus without CPT authorization, your status can be terminated.
• You are required to follow the rules, regulations, and laws of the school, the local municipality and the US. Any violation of these can result in your status being terminated.
• Suspension from school for social or academic
• Receiving a felony
• DWI or DWU 
• Aggravated felonies
• Domestic violence

Any violations that can cause your status to become terminated mean you must leave the US immediately. There are no grace periods allowed.
